The museums of Mequinenza and the Jesús Montcada Literary Space

These are three museum spaces: the Mine Museum, the Museum of the History of Mequinenza and the Museum of the Prehistoric Past. A visit to old mining galleries is very spectacular to get in touch with the mining past of this territory. On the other hand, they include the spaces dedicated to the old town of Mequinenza, demolished by order of the Franco regime and only partially denied by the Riba-roja reservoir. The drama, anguish and impotence experienced by its inhabitants has been masterfully witnessed by the work of the great writer Jesús Montcada, born in the town. Reading his best-known novel —Camí de sirga—, for example, tends to radically transform the vision of the Ebro that we have today.
